Kids Christmas Crafts

Kids are always rarin’ to do something creative. All they need is a little bit of encouragement, and a provision of art materials to work with. We, on the other hand, are too busy doing supposedly serious stuff to spend much time and thought on these creative endeavors. Holidays are different.

On the holidays, everybody gets crafty. Easter is the time to decorate our Easter eggs in the most artistic way we can, Halloween sees us getting creative on our costumes, and Christmas is the time to “deck the halls.” December is the perfect time to think about kids Christmas crafts.

A simple but fun activity would be making personalized Christmas cards. The idea of making and giving your own handmade cards takes care of a lot of issues.

First of all, it keeps the kids busy and occupied as the school days end and the holidays begin. It gives them a sense of pride and purpose, to see their work being given importance.

It saves you the chore of going through racks of holiday greeting cards for the best one to suit the recipient. Instead of spending your funds on impersonal Christmas cards, it would be better to spend them on materials for your kids Christmas crafts instead.

It addresses the environmental aspect if recycled materials are used. It makes you spend quality time with your kids on an important project.

The materials you might need are:
Thick paper
Scissors
Glue
Pencil and eraser
Colored pens
Watercolor
Crayons
Odds and ends such as string, bits of colored paper, glitter, colored cellophane, cut outs of interesting images, buttons, beads, and whatnot

Instructions:

Step 1. Lay everything out in a flat and clean surface

Step 2. Get your paper and cut it out to desired shape for a card

Step 3. Fold the cut paper in half, with the front of the card facing forward

Step 4. Think of a design, such as a christmas tree, an angel, a snowy landscape, a star

Step 5. Draw your design idea on the paper. Lay out the objects you want to incorporate. Do not glue them yet. Rearrange to look for other patterns

Step 6. As soon as you have decided on the design, make it permanent. Glue the objects, color the drawings.

Step 7. Open the kids christmas crafts card and write a personalized note
